Summer camp questions
What if my child does not take private lessons through The Andante Studio?
Register for summer camp anyways! All are welcome- including kids who aren’t taking any private lessons or who take lessons from other teachers/studios! Registering for summer camp does not obligate students to take private lessons.
What will summer camp look like?
Students come to learn and play! During each hour-long session, all age groups and levels will enjoy a blend of group, small group, and individual time work on new skills! Each session will participate in:
- Group Instruction & practice
- Break-out rooms according to more exact age-groups and levels
- Games to practice newly learned ideas with the teacher
- Time to practice on or experiment with the piano
- Practice, crafts, and learning with the teacher’s assistant
- Group Review & snack
What topics will be covered at summer camp?
Exact itinerary will differ drastically according to age and ability, but this year, all sessions will take a deeper dive into music history/genres, rhythm, and ear training. All music summer camp topics are selected to help students in ALL areas of music. This means that not only pianists will benefit from summer camp, but everything taught during our fun-packed week will be applicable to band, orchestra, and choir.
What if my student is behind/more advanced in their music studies?
Please feel free to reach out to Miss Ann (801-404-9861) with any inquiries about student level. Our curriculum is designed to be inclusive of a wide range of abilities and levels between grades K-12. In a group setting, there will always be students who know a little more or a little less than others in the group. We strive to make sure all students have fun during group activities while learning new ideas and putting them into practice. Break-out rooms will allow students time to work more on their individual level.
We loved summer camp! What now?
We’re so glad you enjoyed music summer camp and hope to see you at camp again next year! In the meantime, the director of The Andante Studio, Ann Velasco, would love to work with you and your children for private piano lessons! Please reach out for more information!
